I’ve been Sunday-morning-surfing! The most interesting thing going on this weekend (in my opinion) is Dave Winer’s link to MindCamp in Seattle. I like reading about innovative productivity tools like OutlineLab (account by Andre). Dave Winer has put up some photos on Flickr. I enjoy looking at other people’s flip-charts, don’t ask why …
Anyway, here’s my contribution to the pot … if you are an attendee at Mindcamp today (i.e., you are on the list on the MindCamp home page) we at aspoke.com will give you a free skin for you laptop in one of our standard sizes.

To get your skin, do the following:
email customerservice -at- aspoke.com OR post a comment here, containing the following details:
for emails, use the subject – mindcamp – free skin
say what you would like on the skin (either a picture, or else the web address or name of one of the skins on the aspoke.com website
what size you would like the skin
17″ screen – 406mm x 295mm
15″ screen – 394mm x 280mm
14″ screen – 360mm x 267mm
12″ 315mm x 261mm
(don’t worry, if the size isn’t quite right, you can trim the skin to size with a sharp knife.)
Also, the web address of your blog, which must have been in existence for at least 3 months (we will check this using technorati.com)
The first 30 people to apply, before 12 midday tomorrow 1 May (Seattle time) will get their free laptop skin.
Obviously, we’d appreciate it if you’d get the word out at Mindcamp, by posting on your blog and spreading the word! (But you don’t *have* to do that!)
Any questions, just ask!

The beta FON maps of Ireland show the growth of FON in the country. Most FON hotspots are in Dublin, but the other cities are there too, and there are also a number outside the cities. It’s also worth checking out the UK map to see the hotspots in Northern Ireland.
The maps are great, but that said, there are quite a few glitches with things placed in the wrong locations. I also know of a few hotspots that are missing. It will get straightened out.

We’ve changed around the aspoke.com website and added to the range of skins. If you want something custom, we can do that too. Thanks to aspoke.com’s crack web design team.

With the relaunch of the aspoke.com site, we’ve updated the prices and added new designs (like the one below, which I currently have gracing my laptop – suits my personality, don’t you think?) from the zany to the conservative. What we think we’ve got that’s special: every skin is made specially; the purchase process is quick, simple and secure; a special easy-release strip to make it easy to separate the skin from the backing paper; and an all-inclusive price, no shipping ‘gotchas’.

Now we’re looking for ways to extend our reach.

A poster on boards.ie writes about his experience in prison in Ireland. Plain and simple facts recounted from personal experience. Personal publishing at its best.

The papers reported this week that the RPA has spent 9.5 million euros on the integrated ticketing system. There’s nothing to show for it. I’m not surprised (and I have been saying this privately for over 3 years).

Tom Raftery has a short review of FON. Tom got his router a couple of months ago – FON has knocked out quite a few of the bugs since then. The other things (such as streamlining the procedure for logging on) there solutions that are being worked on.

Martin writes (in spanish) about his plan for how FON can benefit universties and colleges. Basically the deal is that the college makes FON available throughout the campus, and in return, the students and lecturers will get free Internet access via FON. The university also gets the opportunity to earn revenue.

Wallpaper magazine has given the new airport terminal at Barajas an award for the best new airport. I went through the new terminal a few weeks ago and I agree that it’s the most beautiful airport I have ever seen.
However it is also one of the most dysfunctional and one of the worst experiences for a traveller. You have to walk literally for miles and you have no proper directions telling you where to go.
